??Divine Savior Academy to host First Baptist Academy in FHSAA 3A Semi-final Volleyball Match??
November 9, 2018

Divine Savior Academy girls??? teams have had great success in the fall sports season. For the first time in Divine Savior history, all three sports advanced to the State Championships.

Freshman Skylee Shin represented Divine Savior at the Golf State Championship held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey in the Hills. Shin won her Region and ended up tying for 14th in the State in her division. Shin will definitely be one to watch in the coming years.

On Tuesday the Varsity Volleyball team played host to Lake Worth Christian at the Regional Championship match. There was a standing room only crowd and the Shark Tank was full of loud and proud Shark fans. Both teams battled hard, but Divine Savior was able to close out 3 sets in a row in victory, 25-23, 25-23, 27-25. The Sharks showed their resiliency by coming from behind from a 6 point deficit in the 1st set and 7 points in the 3rd. The victory makes them the host of the first round of the State Tournament against First Baptist Academy on November 10 at 2 pm. Head Coach Matt Willems is thrilled to be in this position.”Our win in the Regional Final over Lake Worth Christian was obviously a special moment for the girls and our volleyball program. More importantly, though, it was a great night for DSA and even the community of Doral as a whole with mayor J.C. Bermudez attending the match. Our crowd was great all night long and really helped play a factor in our victory. LWC was a great team and beating them should really give us a lot of momentum going into the State Tournament. The girls have been representing the school and this community so well this year by using their??God-given talents to their fullest.

I’m just so proud of them and super happy they get to experience this journey.

As far as our State Semifinal matchup, First Baptist Academy out of Naples is a solid team but if we play to our potential, I think we have a very good shot of making it to the State Championship match. FBA was in the Championship match last year so they definitely have the experience??and know what it takes to win a State Semifinal match. I’m hoping the school and the community will rally behind this team and pack the gym in support yet again on??Saturday, November 10. It’s been a special year to this point and??next Saturday??is going to be a fun day. To God be the Glory!”

The girls Cross Country team stepped up in a major way at Wednesday???s regional meet. They came into the day ranked 7th overall, knowing that only the top 6 school advance to the State Championships. 6 of the 7 girls ran their personal best times to push the team to a 4th place finish and a trip to the State Meet in Tallahassee on??November 10.

We congratulate all the athletes who have used their God-given abilities to represent Divine Savior so well and wish them the best of luck as they press on!

Located in Doral, Divine Savior Academy provides PreK-3 ??? 12th grade students with college prep academics in a Christian environment. To schedule a private tour of the school, visit www.divinesavioracademy.com.
