The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the winners of their Team Academic Awards last week. For the second year in a row, the Divine Savior Academy Varsity Volleyball Team is a recipient of the Team Academic Award. This award recognizes teams for their academic achievement. For a full list of recipients, visit??www.avca.org/awards/2015-2016-avca-team-academic-award-recipients.html.

Matt Willems, Director of Volleyball Operations at Divine Savior Academy, commented on the award, “This is a special award for the team to have received??because here at Divine Savior Academy we definitely stress the student aspect of our student-athletes. The girls work hard both on and off the court and this award recognizes them for their efforts off the court and in the classroom. I’m very proud of the team, and I know they will be excited about this recognition from the AVCA.”

The Sharks’ volleyball season begins this week with Open Gyms on August 2, 3, and 4 from 9-11am. Tryouts are August 8 and 9 from 9-11:30am. For more information about trying out or about the DSA Volleyball Program, please contact Director of Volleyball Operations Matt Willems at 305-597-4545 or matt.willems@dslca.org.
