Divine Savior Academy is excited to announce??new programs for the new year!

Divine Savior Academy has adopted Project Lead The Way???s (PLTW) high school engineering program for the 2015-2016 school year. PLTW is the nation???s leading provider of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. ??DSA joins more than 6,500 other schools across the U.S. in offering the PLTW program.

Through PLTW Engineering technology, DSA high school students will learn to solve complex, open-ended problems in a real-world context. Students learn how to apply STEM knowledge and skills to make the world a better place through innovation.

???Divine Savior Academy is proud to offer PLTW to our students and give them an advantage over their peers in college and their careers,??? said Science Chair Kristina Troge. ???PLTW has a long history of successfully engaging students in STEM subjects, and we believe our community will also see the benefits of PLTW as these students turn into the next generation of highly skilled industry leaders for our local businesses.???

Students with STEM skills are in high demand. A 2012 PayScale study shows that the most valuable college degrees through 2020 will be in STEM fields. PLTW graduates have said that it influenced their post-secondary decisions and helped shape their future, and students often have the opportunity to earn college credit, admissions preferences, or scholarships for completed PLTW courses.

Along with the Project Lead the Way STEM program, Divine Savior Academy is also excited to announce the addition of the Advanced Placement Capstone Program.??Beginning in the 2015-2016 school year, the AP Capstone program expands DSA???s already rigorous college-prep and honors course offerings. (For a full listing of class offerings, click here).??Students will have the opportunity enroll in the prestigious AP Capstone Program, earn AP Scholar status, take individual AP classes, and also qualify for college credit by taking AP tests.

To better serve our community, Divine Savior Academy is excited to introduce our English Language Learners program. New students in grades 8 and 9 will be able to take part in this specialized program for those new to the English language. The ELL program enables students to learn English and fast-track their immersion into regular classroom education, while simultaneously receiving credit in their designated grade. Students will graduate on schedule with a mastery of the English language. (The English Language Learners program is offered in addition to DSA???s current English as a Second Language (ESL) program. ESL will continue to be offered to all our students at Divine Savior in 1st-12th grade).

???Our new high school construction isn???t just about a new state-of-the-art building and expanded grounds; it???s about new state-of-the-art programs for our students. We can???t wait to start the 2015-2016 school year!??? enthuses Head of Schools and High School Principal Ben Troge.
