With great pride, Divine Savior Academy recognized its high school students at the annual Academic Awards Ceremony on May 7th. The ceremony took place in the DSA Auditorium with parents, family members, teachers, administration, and students in attendance.

College guidance counselors Tom Welch and Sarah Jimenez, along with Principal Ben Troge and Dean of Students Tim Biesterfeld, announced a variety of awards. The Class of 2014 awards for valedictorian, salutatorian, and class speaker were presented. The Faith-in-Action award was also given out to the senior who acted as a ???Good Samaritan??? and exemplified helpfulness, service and Christian love. A similar award called the Impact Award was also given. This title is bestowed on a student who displayed consistent and exemplary school leadership and a positive attitude about his or her school. To wrap up the DSA awards, Athletic Director Dan Unke presented the Senior Athlete award for recognized athletic participation throughout high school.

Divine Savior Academy students were also recognized for special abilities in the areas of the arts and academics. Art teacher Odette Martinez presented the Emerging Artist Award, while foreign language teachers recognized top students in Latin and French. Journalism teacher Michael Babler presented the Quill and Scroll Award for achievement in student-led publications. John Althoff presented awards for achievement for chess, recognizing DSA???s most valuable and most improved players.

In additional to school-wide awards, Divine Savior administration acknowledged awards that students achieved on the community, state, and national levels. Such awards included ISSF Star Students, National Honor Society Finalists, Florida Bright Futures awards, and Presidential Education awards.

Finally, the Honor Roll was announced for the sophomore, junior and senior classes. Divine Savior Academy is thankful for all its student scholars and prays for God???s continued blessing on their studies in the next school year! Congratulations, Sharks!
